Abstract
Common parenting practices in Kupang city is harsh parenting. This type of parenting put less focus in understanding children-s opinion, feeling and hope. This study aims to explore children-s perception on their parents- parenting practice with three main objectives, what do they parents do when they do something wrong, what causes their parents to do that and what is their feeling and hope for their parents. Participants in this study recruited from 12 kindergartens in Kupang City. Data collection were done in two months using interview session on 52 boys and 68 girls aged five to six years old. Data were analysed using thematic analysis technique. Results shown that there are three main reactions from parents when their children made a mistake, that is physical punishment, verbal punishment, and permissive punishment. The antecendent of these responses identified are internal factors from the children (e.g. children refuses to eat or sleep) and external factors (e.g. parents under influence of alcohol, conflict between parents). Fathers, mothers and even other caregivers such as grandmothers are identified to be involved in harsh parenting. Children admitted several negative feelings such as feeling sad, alone, afraid and also often expressed their emotions in crying. There are six hopes from children for their parents, they long for physical contact, verbal expression, non verbal expression, spending time together, gifts and also they want nothing at all. Based on this study, parents in Kupang City could use more knowledge and skills to understand young children and how to discipline them without resorting to harsh parenting practices.

Abstract
ABSTRACT Parents play vital roles in rearing the child-s learning and development especially in the digital era. It is indeed empirical for parents to employ good parenting mechanisms to encourage positive behaviour on the use of the internet among their children. Thus, this research sought to determine the parental mechanisms used by parents towards their children-s internet access. Qualitative research approach was used in the study. Informants were selected by purposive sampling method. Demographic profile was obtained from both parents- and children including the child-s activities and the parental mechanisms towards internet access using unstructured-interview guide. Fisher-s narrative paradigm and Woodworth-s SOR theory were adapted to further illustrate the study-s core concepts. Findings reveal that limiting, supervising, monitoring and orienting the children are the control mechanisms the parents observed in controlling their children-s internet access with the emphasis on the setting of specific time, day and duration for internet usage. Parents check the browsing history of the computer to check the websites their children often visit. It was also found that parents are most concerned on the bad influence that the internet might bring to the children supported by their frequent checking of the websites visited. Hence, parents towards their children are perceived to be as online worriers. Further research shall be conducted to quantify the mechanisms employed by parents and how these mechanisms affect the children with their internet usage.

Abstract
Early stimulation is really needed for the early childhood phase, to all children around the country. Home-based parenting as an action for parents to promote early stimulation outside of preschool is often an efficient way for low-income parents and also parents who lived in remote-area. This research article comes from the best practices of home-based parenting in early childhood practiced in ECCD-RC Yogyakarta-s Program in South Sorong, West Papua, Indonesia. The result of the documentation of best practices showed how parents (especially mothers) can practice easy and also cheap resources around their home to give early stimulation for their children. They also encouraged to use local material and simple resources in their houses to give early stimulation. Since they have a cultural way to work in their home and in the jungle, and during that time they also accompanied by their families, so they also could be doing home-based parenting based on their daily activities. The quality time of communication between mothers and their children also increased. This article also will discuss the effect of the self-concept of being a mother who has limited access to resources but has the main role to give early stimulation for their children.

Medan, North Sumatera Model of Children Readiness in Facing Volcanic Disasters aims as a reference for learning activities about disaster response and disaster awareness early on in the PAUD Unit which is expected to help children reduce the impact of volcanic disasters and preparedness in facing disasters that can come at any time without being realized. Trials were conducted in four institutions in Karo District, namely PAUD GBKP Ndokun Siroga, PAUD Djedidja, PAUD Kuta Rayat, and PAUD Wijayanta which felt the direct impact of the eruption of Mount Sinabung. The tests provided were simulations of ways to save themselves when a mountain erupted, such as how to wear a mask, recognize signs of a volcano eruption, recognize signs of evacuation, gathering points and activities carried out at the gathering point led by teachers waiting for help to arrive. Learning activities are carried out using the story telling method, the singing method, and the simulation method. From the results and discussion after the child is given a simulation and measured the attitude of the child facing a volcano disaster, it can be said that the child has a spiritual attitude, social attitude, knowledge, and excellent skills where the child is no longer afraid, confused, anxious when the volcano experiencing an eruption. Each child understands what to do when a volcano erupts and where to go when an earthquake occurs. This shows that PAUD child readiness models in facing volcanic disasters contribute significantly to childrens readiness in disaster mitigation Keywords: Children Readiness, Early Childhood Education, Natural Disasters, Volcanoes, Disaster Mitigation.

Abstract
This research aims to discuss parents- involvement in early childhood literacy development. It stems from the importance of parents- roles in early childhood activities, especially those that develop literacy. So far, research on children development paradigm by looking at the factors within the family as an asset has not been investigated in the context of Indonesian culture. Therefore, research on parents- effort in early childhood literacy development needs to be conducted. This research employs qualitative approach which is study case by examining five parents as the participants. Interview and observation are employed to collect the data. Then, the data is analyzed through grounded theory technique. Bronfenbrener ecological theory is served as the framework to discuss the problems and understand the data presented in this research. The results of the study indicate that parents- roles are tangible in early childhood literacy development. The conclusion can be drawn as follows: 1) parents perform literacy activities, for example, memorizing, using media and providing literacy-rich surroundings 2) supporting factors such as parents- motivation is associated with parents- involvement with the demand of school readiness and positive belief of the importance of early childhood education. The problems consist of unbalance roles between the parents, physical factor, and 3) the collaboration between the parents and school is actualized in the forms of meetings, giving information, creating parents- coordinator, and communicating between the parents and teachers. Parents must be able to take part in children-s activities in order to modify them into the stimulus that develops children-s literacy

Abstract
This paper starts from the perspective that reading is a childs understanding related to symbols, sounds, vocabulary, sentences in printed form. Reading readiness becomes part of the stages of reading development, by developing a basic understanding of letters and sound before formal reading learning begins at school. Then the researchers traced the first brief explanation of the views in reading readiness. Second, explain the meaning of reading readiness and describe the components of reading readiness for early childhood. Based on examples that can help researchers in illustrating this paper then as part of the conclusions researchers speculate about the next steps for future research.

Abstract
ABSTRACT Parents have only recently felt the importance of Early Childhood Education in the coastal and archipelago areas. Early childhood education is the key to the successful development of children in the future. In this research paper, the things that will be discussed are about the involvement of parents in the learning process of children (parenting), and what skills a child needs in kindergarten, as well as the ability of teachers to make books as creative and attractive learning media for children — developed through learning based on reading stories early on. Therefore, real and sustained emotional ties are established. In early childhood education, there is one of the essential skills possessed by children, because it becomes the primary determinant for success or failure of the school, namely the vocabulary of children before entering school. A schoolboy indeed learns new words, but the words he knows determines how well he can understand what his teacher is saying. because most instructions for the first four years of school take the form of oral, children who have the most extensive vocabulary will understand it faster, while children with minimal vocabulary are the most difficult children to digest the information obtained. Based learning to read stories early with the read-aloud method is an effective way to optimize the awareness of teachers and parents of their involvement in educating children. The usefulness in this method is more than just reading stories, but parents, teachers, and children spend time together loving and sharing each other. Especially for parents, teachers, and children in coastal and archipelago areas, the location and culture of this method is very appropriate to their character, where people who live near the coast tend to produce high-pitched and fast tones. so that this method can be applied in coastal and island areas. So in this study, the method to be used is action research, which aims to improve classroom learning by involving parents and teachers to read stories early on to children using the read-aloud method. The problem that will be discussed in this research is how to build emotional closeness between parents and children through the approach of reading stories early on ?.. What is the method used to make children happy when the teacher or parent reads the story?. What is the process of enhancing childrens understanding through learning to read stories by using read-aloud methods ?.. What is the result of the development of stimulus to read stories early on in the process of understanding learning in school ?... The usefulness of this research is that books become an attractive learning medium for children, making children have enough vocabulary so that children more easily digest information while learning in school through learning based on reading stories early on with the read-aloud method.

Abstract
This study aims to explore the role of parents and community to strengthen children literacy. This study using participatory action research (PAR). Data collection are using interview, observation and documentation. This study conducted in Landak and Manggarai Barat, part of Wahana Visi Indonesia area program. The interview is conducted to tutors, parents, and village officer. The result of the study describe that the role of parents assists children literacy through assisting children creating reading corner and by interaction with children after storytelling or reading a book. The support of community, including the availability of reading camp can increase parents- awareness of children literacy. The inhibiting factors of strengthening support children literacy is when parents do not have enough time to support the children and parents have a low literacy competency to assist children. It seems that, when children have access to early childhood education, it may affect parent-s self-efficacy towards their children literacy. Interestingly, parents also have a more positive behavior to be more patient as they know children development stages during assisting children literacy.

Abstract
Industry revolution 4.0 encourages people to develop their skills, for instance literacy skills. English literacy is needed since people should be able to participate globally which might be commenced in Early Childhood Education (ECE). English instruction for non-native young learners needs numerous methods to deliver the materials in a proper way, purposely in pre-reading instruction for young learners in preparing school readiness. Pre-reading skill would be emphasised on introduction of English letter-s sound as a foundation in developing reading skill in the future. This article unpacks teaching practices in English pre-reading skill to young learners which involve children as a role model for their peers. It uses qualitative descriptive study which involves four and five year-old-children. It reveals that student-s interference in English instruction of pre-reading skill is able to assist them in comprehending concept of English letter-s sound, to increase the student-s confidence in learning English, to improve their fluency in English, and to create contextual environment of learning.
